PREPOSITION

คำบุพบท (Preposition) คือ คำที่แสดงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่าง คำนามหรือคำสรรพนาม กับคำอื่นในประโยค

Sue and Sam are in the room.

Sue and Sam are in the room.

The cat is sleeping under the bed.

คำบุพบท (preposition) แบ่งออกเป็นชนิดใหญ่ๆได้ ดังนี้


1. Prepositions of Places – คำบุพบทเกี่ยวกับสถานที่ หมายถึง คำบุพบทที่บอกตำแหน่งแหล่งที่ว่าสิ่งนั้นๆ อยู่ที่ไหน บ้างก็เรียกบุพบทเหล่านี้ว่า preposition of positions เช่น in, at, on, under, across, around, and etc...


Example:

The light is above the gate.

The plane is flying below the clouds.

The light is over the door.

The ruler is under the carpet.


2. Prepositions of Time – คำบุพบทเกี่ยวกับเวลา หมายถึง คำบุพบทที่บอกกาลเวลา เช่น before, after, between, until, to, on, from, and etc...

Example:

It is cold after November.

Before 1985 my family lived in Puket.

I often phone my son between 5 and 6.

That guard works during the night.

I always get up at seven o’clock.

Mother will arrive by 5 o’clock.



3. Prepositions อื่นๆ –เช่น about, with, without, and etc....

Example:

This book is about AIDS.

She lives with her grandmother.

Kim learns Thai without a dictionary.
